A Lifelong Bleeding Disorder Associated With a Deficiency of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor Type

چکیده
A 36-year-old patient was investigated for a lifelong history of epistaxis and delayed bleeding after minor surgeries. Deficiencies or abnormalities of the coagulation system, of platelet function, or of factor Xlll and a-2-antiplasmin were excluded. Consistently, however, over a period of 7 years, a high basal euglobulin fibrinolytic activity was observed that was characterized by a high tissue-type plasminogen activator (&PA) activity, normal t-PA antigen, and undetectable plasminogen activator inhibitor type-I (PAI-1) antigen and activity. The high specific activity of t-PA (640,000 IU/mg) and

متن کاملOral management of a patient with a plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI-1) deficiency: case report.
Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) deficiency causes a rare bleeding disorder by allowing excessive fibrinolysis to occur. Knowledge of the specific type and severity of the bleeding disorder is crucial in planning a safe and appropriate treatment sequence in conjunction with a hemophilia team. This article reports the oral management of a 9-year-old female with PAI-1 inhibitor deficienc...
متن کاملSerum Level of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor Type-1 in Addicted Patients with Coronary Artery Disease
Background: Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) is a glycoprotein with inhibitory effects on the formation of plasmin from plasminogen by plasminogen activator. Thus, it prevents clot lysis in vessel walls. Several evidences prove the relationship between coronary artery disease and response to fibrinolytic therapy in patients with myocardial infarction with PAI-1 level. Opium addiction i...
متن کاملDeficiency of plasma plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 results in hyperfibrinolytic bleeding.
A 63-year-old man was evaluated for a lifelong history of bleeding commencing with frequent epistaxis as a child; all previous routine coagulation parameters were within the normal range. The patient's hemorrhagic disorder is characterized predominantly by delayed bleeding at surgical sites. In the resting state, there was no clinical or laboratory evidence of excessive fibrin(ogen)olysis. Blee...
